Progressive Surface Modeling Scheme from Unorganised Curves

چکیده
This paper presents a novel surface modelling scheme to construct a freeform surface progressively from unorganised curves representing the boundary and interior characteristic curves. The approach can construct a base surface model from four ordinary or composite boundary curves and support incremental surface updating from interior characteristic curves, some of which may not be on the final surface. The base surface is first constructed as a regular Coons surface and upon receiving an interior curve sketch, it is then updated. With this progressive modelling scheme, a final surface with multiple sub-surfaces can be obtained from a set of unorganised curves and transferred to commercial surface modelling software for detailed modification. The approach has been tested with examples based on 3D motion sketches; it is capable of dealing with unorganised design curves for surface modelling in conceptual design. Its limitations have been discussed. Key-Words: progressive surface modeling, unorganised curves, boundary curves, interior curves, conceptual design, motion sketch.

This paper presents a novel progressive surface modelling method to construct a freeform surface incrementally based on 3D motion sketches that represent the boundary and interior characteristic curves. The approach can construct a base surface model from multiple boundary curves and support incremental surface updating from interior characteristic curves which may cross the boundary curves or ...
متن کاملMath 671: Level set methods Variational level sets in shape reconstruction from unorganised data sets
Following in a vein similar to [Zhao et al., 2001], the goal of this project is to develop fast and accurate schemes to reconstruct shapes from unorganised data-sets using variational level set methods. The approach followed is based primarily on the gradient-flow scheme derived in class from variational considerations, and uses implementation details borrowed from [Zhao, 2004, Osher and Fedkiw...
متن کاملWireWarping: A fast surface flattening approach with length-preserved feature curves
This paper presents a novel approach – WireWarping for computing a flattened planar piece with length-preserved feature curves from a 3D piecewise linear surface patch. The property of lengthpreservation on feature curves is very important to industrial applications for controlling the shape and dimension of products fabricated from planar pieces. WireWarping simulates warping a given 3D surfac...
متن کاملImitation Programming Unorganised Machines
In 1948 Alan Turing presented a general representation scheme by which to achieve artificial intelligence – his unorganised machines. Further, at the same time as also suggesting that natural evolution may provide inspiration for search, he noted that mechanisms inspired by the cultural aspects of learning may prove useful. This chapter presents results from an investigation into using Turing’s...
